The narrative trekking event begins in Villafranca Sicula on December 2, 2026.

The ADLER Sicilia narrative marathon returns to the Sicani Mountains of eastern Sicily on December 2, 2026, offering a unique trekking experience that blends natural beauty, culture, and wellness.

A Journey Through the Sicani Mountains

Starting in Villafranca Sicula, participants will traverse the Sicani Mountains, a lesser-known region rich in history and untouched by mass tourism. The route, led by ADLER guides and a local environmental guide from Esperienze nei Borghi della Sicilia Autentica | Val di Kam, highlights ancient olive groves, rocky coastlines, and the azure Mediterranean Sea.

The trek emphasizes slow travel, showcasing traditional crafts and local cuisine while promoting the therapeutic benefits of outdoor movement. The Sicani region’s secluded nature allows guests to immerse themselves in Sicily’s deepest cultural and natural heritage.

Caltabellotta: A Blue Zone Hub

The marathon concludes in Caltabellotta, an emerging Blue Zone recognized for its longevity and community-driven lifestyle. The town, perched above the Verdura River valley, features narrow stone streets and layers of historical influences, including Sicano, Arab, Greek, Roman, and medieval architecture.

Historical landmarks, such as churches and ruins, reflect the town’s strategic past. Guests can explore panoramic views of the mountains and sea, taste local specialties like olive oil and fig-filled cuddureddi, and experience the wellness-focused traditions that define the area.

Wellness and Culinary Experiences

After the trek, participants can unwind at the resort’s spa, which offers treatments inspired by Sicilian ingredients like citrus and fig. The facilities include heated pools, a thalassotherapy pool overlooking Capobianco’s cliffs, and panoramic saunas. Daily yoga sessions in the Mediterranean garden complement the holistic experience.

The resort’s restaurant serves farm-to-table meals using ingredients from on-site gardens, reinterpreting traditional Sicilian dishes with light, creative twists. The ADLER Essenze di Sicilia massage, featuring organic oils, provides a relaxing conclusion to the physical effort.

The event builds on ADLER’s successful formats from Alto Adige and Tuscany, with a dedicated package available from November 29 to December 6, 2026. Rates start at €721 per person for three nights in a Junior Suite, including half-board and the signature massage.
