Luggage storage platform Stasher has secured £3 million in new funding to expand its smart locker network across the U.K. The round includes £2 million in growth capital from Gilion and £1 million from Hive Box, a provider of smart locker solutions. This financial boost follows a strategic partnership between the two companies, under which Hive Box will supply 100 smart lockers for deployment at hotels, railway stations, airports, and tourist destinations in the U.K. and Europe by mid-2027. Both firms have set ambitious targets, with plans to eventually install 1,000 or more lockers as part of the expansion.
Stasher’s core business operates by connecting travelers with hotels that offer luggage storage services. The integration of smart lockers introduces a self-service alternative, enabling guests to securely store and retrieve their bags using QR codes. Hotels have historically formed the backbone of Stasher’s network, and the new funding will accelerate the rollout of these automated systems.
Hive Box’s lockers are already operational at 17 Premier Inn locations in London, Edinburgh, and Manchester, alongside deployments at Zedwell Trocadero and StayKula properties. This expansion follows a successful pilot program at Premier Inn London St Pancras, which launched in November 2023. The partnership ensures broader accessibility for travelers while streamlining operations for hospitality providers.
Jacob Wedderburn-Day, Stasher’s CEO, highlighted that the funding will drive faster expansion while minimizing manual handling tasks for hotel staff. The combination of Hive Box’s hardware with Stasher’s booking platform creates a scalable framework for unattended luggage storage, reducing reliance on front-desk assistance. This model aligns with industry trends toward automation in hospitality services.
Stasher has previously grown through strategic acquisitions, including StoreMe in New York, Cubby in the U.S., Airkeep in Latin America, and MindMyBag in Australia. Earlier this year, the company partnered with Quadient to integrate its 1,640 Parcel Pending smart lockers into the U.K. network. These moves reflect a broader strategy to diversify its service offerings and strengthen its presence in key travel markets.
Stasher also works with Dublin-based aparthotel operator Staycity Aparthotels, which uses earlier Stasher locker models.
