Advito’s latest Travel Price Index indicates that intercontinental airline fares in Asia are increasing, hotel prices differ across markets, and regional rail costs are rising.

Asia’s airfare surge

The continent is experiencing among the most pronounced worldwide jumps in intercontinental ticket prices as it approaches the fourth quarter. Although a number of destinations have expanded seat availability, robust demand coupled with higher fuel expenses keep pushing fares upward.

India emerges as a major expansion market, where carriers are broadening their overseas routes. Fresh and enlarged services aim at Europe, Southeast Asia and North America. Within Asia, domestic and short-haul fares remain comparatively steady, and business-class rates are seeing only slight rises across these regions.

Hotel price variance

Across Asia, hotel costs are displaying more fluctuation than airline prices. While the regional average daily rate climbs modestly, specific locales exhibit varied growth rates.

China’s hotel price increase stands at 2.7%. Nevertheless, key commercial centers such as Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen are posting larger gains. In contrast, India follows a divergent trend as the sourcing season advances, with average fourth-quarter rates expected to fall compared with the prior year.

Rising rail costs and program adjustments

Across the Asian continent, rail ticket prices are registering the steepest global upticks. In China, much of this rise stems from state-led actions intended to counteract climbing energy expenses. Even with these hikes, Chinese rail rates stay competitive relative to numerous international markets, especially when contrasted with European prices. Consequently, rail remains a viable option for intra-China journeys.

Ongoing market fluctuations are influencing travel initiatives and their everyday expense frameworks. Advito’s aviation and accommodation experts have highlighted a number of priority topics for travel departments in the fourth quarter. Regarding flight programs, route-level budget impact remains a key consideration. International markets with frequent business travel and sustained fare pressure require particular attention.
