Air Canada will resume flights between Quito and two Canadian cities in December, introducing four weekly departures that will strengthen connections across North America and Europe. The airline will launch nonstop service from Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport to Montreal and Toronto, routes that had been temporarily halted. Montreal flights begin December 4, while Toronto service starts December 5, with operations continuing seasonally until March 2027.
The Montreal–Quito route will operate three times weekly, Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using a Boeing 787-8 with capacity for 255 passengers. Flights arrive in Quito at 1:05 a.m. and depart for Montreal at 9:30 a.m. The Toronto–Quito service runs once weekly on Sundays, arriving in Quito at 12:10 a.m. and departing for Toronto at 9:00 a.m., operated by a Boeing 787-9 with 298 seats.
Both cities serve as Air Canada hubs, enabling passengers to connect to destinations across North America and Europe. The airline’s return adds Montreal as a new nonstop option from Quito while restoring the direct link to Toronto, which had been discontinued. For Ecuadorian travelers, these routes provide additional choices for tourism, business, and family visits, while international passengers can use the network to reach Ecuador more efficiently.
Alfredo Babún, Air Canada’s general manager for the Andean region, described the move as important for bilateral relations between Ecuador and Canada. The recent signing of a Free Trade Agreement between the two countries has created new opportunities for trade and investment, and the airline views strong air connectivity as essential to supporting these efforts. The return to Quito, Babún said, demonstrates the airline’s commitment to a relationship with potential for future growth.
Quiport, the operator of Quito’s airport, welcomed the resumption of nonstop flights. Ramón Miró, Quiport’s president, stated that the routes expand travel options between Ecuador and Canada, offering direct access to two major Canadian cities. These connections also facilitate onward travel to other international destinations through Air Canada’s network.
Miró highlighted that the new flights will support tourism, business travel, and family visits while strengthening ties between the two countries. Quiport continues to collaborate with airlines to add more destinations and increase flight frequencies from Quito. The Quito–Montreal and Quito–Toronto services are available for booking through Air Canada’s official channels.
