The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Jacksonville has named Melissa Sims as its first General Manager, marking a key leadership appointment ahead of the property’s opening.
Sims arrives after two decades with Four Seasons, most recently overseeing the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe as General Manager. Her career spans hotel operations, team culture, and guest experience, and she will direct those areas as preparations for the Jacksonville project move forward.
She also brings a reputation for nurturing strong staff relationships and for translating brand standards into local relevance. The city’s riverfront location places the hotel within a growing Sports & Entertainment District, offering direct marina access and proximity to cultural and athletic venues.
“The energy of an opening is unmatched, but what excites me most is the opportunity to become part of this community,” Sims said. “Jacksonville has a genuine warmth and sense of possibility that you feel immediately. We are grateful for the opportunity to build something meaningful alongside the people who call this city home.”

Sims’ focus during the pre-opening phase will be on assembling the hotel team, building local partnerships, and ensuring the property aligns with both Four Seasons’ standards and Jacksonville’s identity. The appointment reflects the brand’s commitment to blending its signature service with the city’s lively character—a balance that has defined successful openings in other markets, such as Four Seasons Miami and Four Seasons Boston.
Rodriguez, a 30-year Four Seasons veteran, will lead commercial strategy and market positioning for the hotel and residences. His experience includes overseeing landmark openings and multi-property initiatives across Florida and beyond. “We are not coming to Jacksonville to redefine what already makes the city special,” he noted. “Our role is to build on those strengths by bringing the care, craftsmanship, and service Four Seasons is known for while creating experiences that feel authentically Jacksonville.”
The $500 million development is a collaboration between Four Seasons, Shanna Collective, and the Khan family. Shanna Collective, a developer noted for luxury mixed-use projects, partners with the Khan family, whose holdings include several high-profile hospitality assets. The design emphasizes connectivity to the waterfront and surrounding attractions, reinforcing Jacksonville’s role as a hub for tourism and entertainment.
The hotel and residences are set to debut in 2027, following a period of team-building and pre-opening preparations. Sims and Rodriguez will lead efforts to ensure the property reflects Four Seasons’ global standards while embedding itself in Jacksonville’s changing setting.
